If you want to ask me about why I choose to be in school for so long to get a MD and a PhD, I'd just say because it makes sense for where I want to get to and what I want to do. I'll also tell you that it doesn't define who I am, as I get irritated when my extended family talks about how respectable I am simply because I study medicine. But I wouldn't change what I'm doing for anything else in the world, except maybe to be a househusband and raise the kids if I was married to the first woman president of the United States (even though she'd be pretty politically correct, which probably would annoy me).
I want to support you, but I don't want to have to carry you. If you have clear goals and want someone to laugh, listen to you, and share responsibilities while you're trying to get there, I am the person you want. If you want someone open, honest, sarcastic, and accepting, I'm also natural for the part. If that's not what you're looking for, then good luck with your search!
